Militants dare Buhari, blow up Chevron installation

Despite warnings from the federal government, some Niger Delta militants have blown the Chevron Valve Platform located on the high sea near Escravos in Warri South-West council area of Delta state.

A source told TheCable that the incident happened around midnight on Wednesday.
The attack happened less than three weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari
threatened to treat pipeline vandals like Boko Haram militants.
“The government is still being dared, but those who are sensible should have learnt a lesson. Those who are mad, let them continue in their madness,” he had told some Nigerians resident in China.
“I am aware that in the last two weeks, the national grid collapsed a number of times. I hope this message will reach the vandals and saboteurs who are blowing up pipelines and installations. We will deal with them the way we dealt with Boko Haram.”

An oil expert described the attack as a major setback to the country’s oil production, saying the facility is among the company’s most significant platforms.

The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), a new militant group, has claimed responsibility for the attack, warning that the deployment of soldiers to the region would not deter them from carrying out further attacks.
NDA threatened not to relent until it cripples the economy of the nation.

“The high command of the Niger Delta Avengers wants to use this medium to thank strike team 6 for successfully blowing up of the Chevron Valve Platform. And we are ready to protect the Niger Delta people,” read a statement issued by Madoch Agbinibo, the group’s spokesman.
“This is what we promised the Nigeria government. Since they refused to listen to us we are going to zero the economy of the country.
“As for zeroing the Nigerian economy, the Niger Delta Avengers is done with Delta state major oil installations. Now, we are taking the fight out of the creeks to the Niger Delta. We are taking it to Abuja and Lagos now.

“We want to pass this message to the all international oil companies operating in the Niger Delta that the Nigeria Military can’t protect their facilities. They should talk to the federal government to meet our demands else more mishaps will befall their installations.”
The group had earlier claimed responsibility for the attack on the Forcados 48-inch Export Pipeline, which was attacked two months ago.
When contacted, Raimi Mohammed, commander Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta, said: “We got a news like that this morning but we are yet to confirm. We have asked our people in Escravos to confirm. It happened deep offshore but we need confirmation to know what really happened.”

Ethiopia applauded for its progressive refugee integration law

The Ethopia parliament has adopted revisions to its existing refugee law, making it one of the most progressive refugee policies in Africa. The revised framework strives for refugee integration, allowing refugees to obtain work permits, access primary education, obtain drivers’ licenses, national financial services such as banking among others. Low and middle income countries like Ethiopia host 85% of the global refugee population. Refugee compacts or ‘jobs compacts’ or Economic Opportunities Programs are agreements between donors and governments that host refugees to mitigate the expenses for their already struggling economies. These grants, concessional loans and other incentives are used to stimulate economic development and enable host countries to provide basic services to refugees and local populations. As the second-largest refugee-hosting country in Africa, Ethiopia is currently the host of over 900,000 refugees mainly from neighbouring South Sudan

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T TRUST MEN EASILY

True love is something that all people search for, especially when they are young. It should be mentioned that men and women have different attitude to love. It is a well-known fact that boys love with their eyes and girls love with their ears. That means all the words we hear from our guys are very important to us and we take everything serious. Being trustful, women can easily fall in love and give their heart away to those men who don’t deserve their great affection. Don’t let your feelings and emotions prevail over your mind or finally you will get disappointed and frustrated. Consider the following reasons why you shouldn’t give your heart away so easily and you will manage to avoid big mistakes in your life. MEN ARE LUSTFUL. It’s not a secret that men are lustful and we can’t do anything with this. Due to this fact you shouldn’t trust them so quickly. Surely, I don’t want to say that all men are the same, but it is quite natural that most of them at first pay much attenti

The Purpose Of Life Is Not Happiness: It’s Usefulness

For the longest time, I believed that there’s only purpose of life: And that is to be happy. Right? Why else go through all the pain and hardship? It’s to achieve happiness in some way. And I’m not the only person who believed that. In fact, if you look around you, most people are pursuing happiness in their lives. That’s why we collectively buy shit we don’t need, go to bed with people we don’t love, and try to work hard to get approval of people we don’t like. Why do we do these things? To be honest, I don’t care what the exact reason is. I’m not a scientist. All I know is that it has something to do with history, culture, media, economy, psychology, politics, the information era, and you name it. The list is endless. We are who we are. Let’s just accept that. Most people love to analyze why people are not happy or don’t live fulfilling lives.  I don’t necessarily care about the why . I care more about  how  we can change. Jus t a few short years ago, I did ever
