Army to begin "Operation Crocodile Smile" in Ogun

To address the security challenges in Ogun State and its environs, the Nigerian Army said on Sunday that it had concluded plans to launch a new security initiative code-named “Operation Crocodile Smile.” The Brigade Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Basil Adoke, disclosed this in Abeokuta at a reception organised by the state government as part of activities to mark Nigeria’s 57th independence anniversary. Adoke, who said that the initiative would commence ” in the next couple of days” across the state and its environs, is targeted at miscreants. “We are going to start Operation Crocodile Smile in Ogun and it involves series of actions to step up the tempo targeted at miscreants,” Adoke said. The commander, who allayed fears over the initiative, called on residents to be calm, stressing that some miscreants had been identified and would be flushed out.

PRESS RELEASE. The Nigerian Medical Association, Imo State wishes to inform the General public that  where as immunization is neccessary for the prevention of some killer diseases especially in Childhood, there in no officially approved immunisation programme going on in the state presently. As a result, parents and teachers are advised not to submit their wards to persons or group of persons for any purported form of immunisation. This is on the backdrop of alarm being raised about "forced immunization"  in some places in the state on Wednesday 11th October, 2017. Similarly, The Nigerian Medical Association Imo State advices the general public to stay away from all forms of "free medical programmes" that do not have the approval of Nigerian Medical Association, while we keenly monitor events unfold. Warnings as deadly Central African Republic violence returns

Bangassou - Bullet-riddled roofs line the "boulevard of death" in Central African Republic's southeastern town of Bangassou, where almost everyone who enters is seen as an enemy. The city, spared sectarian bloodshed until May, now has more than 2 000 Muslim residents forced to take refuge at the local cathedral after attacks by the mostly Christian anti-Balaka militia. More than 300 people have been killed and 100 000 displaced since May as violence that began in 2013 moves into the impoverished country's central and southeastern regions, prompting warnings of a national conflict roaring back to life. In Bangassou alone, more than 150 people have died in fighting between militias and UN peacekeeping forces. "We were driven out by force. We have lost our parents, our homes and all of our belongings," said Djamal Haddine Mahamat-Salle, secretary-general of the organization representing the town's displaced Muslim...
