Woman Poisons Husband 15 Days After Wedding Because She Did Not Like Him

The Pakistan police arrested a
woman on Saturday evening
on charges of poisoning her
husband to death a few days
ago. The accused woman,
Reema Bhutto, is suspected of poisoning her husband, Nisar
Bhutto, on January 22.

The
man died during treatment in
a hospital on January 25. Nisar, who was a florist by
profession and a resident of
Haji Latif Shah Muhalla, was
married to Reema under the
custom marriage about 15
days ago. On the night of January 22,
Reema allegedly gave
poisoned milk to her husband.

After her husband drank the
milk, he started complaining
about severe stomach ache and was taken to a hospital in
Shikarpur. He was later
shifted to a private hospital
because there were no
doctors there. On January 23, Nisar was
shifted to a Sukkur hospital
and then referred to a
hospital in Karachi, where he
died. Nisar's mother registered a
complaint at the Lakhidar
police station against her
daughter-in-law, Reema,
stating that she has poisoned
her son to death. Later, policemen raided the house
of Reema's parents and
arrested the suspect.

The police claimed that
Reema has confessed in her
statement to adding poison in
her husband's milk. According
to the accused, the marriage
was done under custom arrangement 15 days ago and
she poisoned him to death as
she did not like him. The suspect is being kept at
the women cell and will be
produced in the court Monday
(today) morning.

Nigerian economy: A hole in my budget

Staring at the prospect of a recession for the first time in almost 30 years, Nigeria’s government is struggling to fund its budget, which it hoped would stimulate an economy that is reeling from the impact of low oil prices. A funding shortfall has kickstarted a debate about the future of key state assets. President Muhammadu Buhari has tabled a budget of N6.06 trillion (R260bn) for the 2016 fiscal year. The budget is partially funded by income from oil sales which have suffered since the beginning of the year following the return of attacks on oil facilities in the Niger Delta . Petroleum minister Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu says half of government’s expected income has been lost as a result of the disruption to oil production. To get around the problem (at least in the short term), it has looked for alternative ways to raise funds. And in a surprise announcement, it says it will consider selling government assets such as oil and gas plants, refineries, airports, rail lines and...
